And so it begins...

House is sold. Plane ticket is booked. Last day at work is set. It appears as though I'm heading off to Nova Scotia! I fly out on 1st Jan 2006 with classes starting on the 4th. I've decided to go out a couple of days early to get over the jetlag! Will be staying in a hotel down in Halifax for the first two days before heading up to Truro and into residence. Still waiting to hear exactly where those residence will be...

I've registered for all my classes. Going to be doing Chemistry, Maths, Physics and English. American/Canadian degrees work a little differently in that you have to have a smattering of "liberal" classes...hence the English. It will be a crime if I fail English! Apparently we will be studying "The Novel". Quite what that novel will be I don't know just yet. Hopefully it will drag my GPA up to the level I need. If I can get over 80% across the board in year one then I automatically get a scholarship - which will mean a reduction of fees from international levels to home student levels. That would be a saving of about $6000 a year, or £3000 - I'm going for the 80% !!!

My timetable seems quite light at the moment - 10-3 on Mon, Wed & Fri. But, I shouldn't forget about the amount of studying I'm going to have to do outside of these times. Going to be weird settling back into a routine where it's only me who can make things happen...if I don't study the information isn't going to magically stick in my head.

At some point I'm going to move this blog thingy onto a more "designed" site. Chances are that will never actually happen, but if I write it down the chances are increased by 2%.

So, the clock is ticking again. Feels very unreal at the moment. I imagine it will hit home on 1st Jan when I'm stood at the departure gate. Crumbs chief!

To remind me of home once I'm on the other side of the pond...
